Paul and Barnabas set out on their first missionary journey and encounter resistance to the gospel in the form of a sorcerer on the island of Cyprus. What should we do when we encounter resistance?

This week we looked at Act 12:25-13:3, where we see a major shift in the evangelism of the world. We go from seeing mainly Jews becoming Christians to Gentiles becoming Christians. God makes it very clear that the Gospel is for everyone. We also see how this text applies to us today. As Christians, God calls us to do the work he has us: loving God and loving others. He doesn't call us to do this perfectly. He calls us to do it faithfully.

Self-exaltation is nothing new. In Acts 12:20-24, we see Herod on the throne being praised and likened to a god. He does not deny this or give God the glory. We tend to do the very same in our lives. Thinking that we can be like God is nothing new. These things lead to sin, toil, and destruction. Fortunately for us, Jesus gives us a way out of destruction into new life.

This Sunday we looked at Acts 12:1-19. James is Killed and Peter is Imprisoned. God sends an angel freeing Peter from Prison, showing us that there are 3 pertinent necessities that we can take away from this passage: prayer, preparedness, and faith.

This week we looked at Acts 11:19-30 and the mission of the church as the Gospel continues to spread. The Mission of the Church is to Faithfully, Boldly Proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to All People. We do this only empowered by the Holy Spirit.

This Week we looked at Acts 10. In this text The Holy Spirit is poured out on Jews and Gentiles, making it clear that Jesus Christ died for all. God is intimately orchestrating our lives according to His Will and for our good. God loves all people and is calling everyone, no matter where they are at, to Himself.

This week we looked at Acts 9:31-43. Peter healed Aeneas and brought Dorcas (Tabitha) back to life. Those are amazing miracles done in the name of Jesus Christ! An even more amazing miracle is all that believe in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins--they too are restored to a new life!

This week we looked at Acts 9:1-31 and on Saul's miraculous conversion to Christ and what it looks like to be zealous for the Lord.

This week we looked at Philip's godly encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch and the Preparation, Presentation, and Response that goes into sharing the gospel.

This week we looked at Acts 8:9-25 and how it highlights the supremacy of God in the message and grace of Jesus Christ.

We see in Acts 8:1-8 that the Gospel continues to spread throughout Judea and Samaria despite oppression from all sides. We too, should expect opposition in our lives as we seek to make Jesus Christ's name known.

Today we went through Stephen's brief yet impactful service for Christ in Acts 6:8-7:60 and how we are called to imitate it.

This week we looked at Acts 6:1-7. The church was rapidly expanding in number. The 12 disciples showed humility and trust by having the church choose 7 men to oversee the daily distribution to the widows. We learned 4 lessons from Acts that we can apply today when filling ministry needs in the church.

Our scripture this week is Acts 5:17-42. In this text we see the apostles going against The High Priest and preaching the Gospel. They are thrown into prison, but they rejoice that they are counted worthy to suffer in the name of Jesus Christ. We too should expect that some people will come to believe, others will reject Jesus, and some will vehemently oppose God. We are to preach the Good News in affectionate obedience to God, and out of love for others.

We continue our series in Acts with the story of Ananias and Sapphira who attempt to deceive the church for sinful gain, only to be confronted by the holiness of God.

We look at how the early church prays in Acts 4:23-31 in response to persecution and invite those listening to submit their own prayer requests for boldness in missions.

We open to Acts 4:1-22 and see a Spirit-filled Peter preach the gospel of Jesus boldly to the council of religious leaders threatening them to stop in the wake of a miraculous healing.

This week we opened to Acts 3 and saw Peter heal a disabled beggar "in the name of Jesus Christ" and then preach the gospel to the crowd of amazed onlookers.

We discussed Acts 2:42-47 and looked at the four things that the early church devoted themselves to.

We open to Acts 2:14-41 when Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ, which the Spirit uses to convert three thousand souls!
